SELF-ID – My Digital Self: Shaping Identity in the Digital Age

SELF-ID is an Erasmus+ project that explores how digital environments shape the identity, self-image and wellbeing of young people. In a world influenced by social media, algorithms and artificial intelligence, adolescents are constantly exposed to content that affects how they see themselves and others. The project brings together partners from across Europe to better understand these influences and to support young people in developing a healthier, more critical and more confident sense of self in digital spaces.

What is the project about?

Through research and educational activities, the project examines how these factors shape young people’s everyday experiences. SELF-ID focuses on the intersection of:

ACTIVITIES

What we do

The project combines research, education and practical tools to create meaningful impact in schools and communities. Key activities include:

  • conducting research with students in partner countries

  • developing a teacher training programme

  • creating open educational resources in multiple languages

  • designing innovative and gamified learning tools

  • supporting teachers and schools in addressing digital identity topics

Our Goal

The main goal of SELF-ID is to empower young people to:

  • better understand their digital identity
  • critically reflect on online content and influences
  • build resilience to unrealistic standards and manipulation
  • develop a balanced and authentic sense of self
