The international project SELF-ID – My Digital Self: Shaping Identity in the Digital Age officially began with its first online meeting, gathering partners from four European countries on December 16, 2025.

The kick-off meeting marked the beginning of joint work on a project addressing one of the key challenges of modern childhood: the identity development of children and youth in a digital environment. Participants were introduced to the project’s objectives, planned activities, and implementation timeline, while also exchanging their initial experiences and expectations.

During the meeting, the plan for developing educational materials and interventions targeting students aged 10 to 14 was presented, along with activities aimed at teachers and schools. In the upcoming phases, the project will be implemented through collaboration among schools, experts, and partner organizations, with a special emphasis on strengthening digital literacy, critical thinking, and a positive self-image.

Društvo za komunikacijsku i medijsku kulturu (DKMK) is participating in the project as the partner responsible for developing the educational framework, with a focus on digital identity and the media culture of children and youth.

The meeting also established the next steps for the project, including regular online meetings and the first transnational partner meeting scheduled for February 2026. Participants highlighted the importance of international cooperation and knowledge exchange in providing children and educators with concrete, applicable tools for navigating the digital age. In the coming months, the SELF-ID project will deliver a series of activities and materials aimed at fostering safer, healthier, and more mindful development of children in the digital environment.
